DeepMap ("we", "us") operates a development-application intelligence service. We compile information about NSW development applications — including the businesses and people involved — and make it searchable for our customers. This policy covers personal information about (a) people who appear in that data and (b) our account holders and visitors.
We collect most personal information from third-party public sources rather than from the individual directly, because direct collection at this scale is not practicable. Our primary sources are:
Information being publicly available does not remove our obligations under the Privacy Act. This policy is part of how we notify individuals about our collection (APP 5).
Our purpose is commercial: to provide a searchable development-intelligence and business-lead service to our customers (primarily finance brokers and property professionals). We use and disclose personal information to operate, secure and improve that service, and we disclose it to Pro customers through the product. We do not sell bulk lists and we contractually require customers not to misuse personal information (see our Terms of Service).
Our customers may contact businesses identified in the data. You can ask us to stop using or disclosing your personal information for direct-marketing purposes, including stopping us from facilitating others' marketing to you, and to tell you the source of your information. Use our removal & correction form or email hello@deepmap.com.au. We act on such requests free of charge and within a reasonable period (we aim for 30 days).
Our data is extracted from documents using automated tools and may contain errors. Each record carries provenance and a confidence indicator. You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it or remove it. We will respond within a reasonable period. Submit a request via our request form or email hello@deepmap.com.au.
When we action a removal request, the relevant individual is suppressed from the live service so their details are no longer revealed to customers.
We use reputable cloud and AI service providers to host and process data, some of which store or process information outside Australia (including in the United States). We take reasonable steps to ensure these providers handle personal information consistently with the APPs.
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, and to destroy or de-identify it when it is no longer needed for our purposes or as required by law.
If you have a privacy concern, contact us at hello@deepmap.com.au and we will investigate. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
